An exciting partnership between St. Anthony Health Foundation and Foothills Art Center offers hospital patients and visitors a unique opportunity to experience the healing nature of beautiful artwork, while allowing greater exposure and recognition for some of Colorado’s most prestigious artists.
The Art for Healing project displays original artworks by local, regional and nationally known artists, in the St. Anthony Hospital lobby and nearby public areas. With the guidance of a Foothills Art Center curator, a jury of representatives from the art community, Foothills, the hospital and the foundation, select the artworks that will hang in and near the hospital lobby for six months at a time. While on display, the artwork is for sale. Proceeds from any works sold are shared among the artist, Foothills Art Center and St. Anthony Health Foundation.
Leading researchers have shown that response to art is visceral. Art offers a unique and personal experience for every viewer. Art is part of the fabric creating an embracing environment for patients and their families during stressful times in their lives. Art heals by changing a person’s physiology and attitude. Art helps ease fears. Art creates hope.
Throughout St. Anthony Hospital, the permanent artwork was chosen to create a healing patient environment. The changing displays in the main lobby and nearby public areas bring the healing environment to the public.
